PROFILE
Tracey Gore
Director, Steve Biko Housing
Tracey was born in Liverpool and left school with few
O-Levels. She went on to college because it was ‘something to do’. Tracey went on to work at SLP to cover somebody’s annual leave and ended up staying for 7 years. Whilst there she trained as a housing officer and studied for a BTEC National in Housing Studies. After SLP Tracey moved on to Merseyside Improved Housing (MIH).
Within 18 months Tracey was the first Black Housing Manager and also the youngest to be appointed at that time! After thirteen years at MIH Tracey moved to the Regeneration Team at the Central Policy Unit at Liverpool City Council, which meant losing her company car and taking a cut in salary, but also meant more challenges.
After 5 years Tracey left Liverpool City Council and moved to her present company where she is now the Director of Steve Biko Housing Association, one of two Black and Racial Minority Housing Associations based on Merseyside.
